Moe Joes Breakfast Eatery

Moe Joe’s Breakfast Eatery is a straightforward American breakfast resteraunt

Moe Joe’s has been one of my favorite places to stop when visiting Boise since long before I moved to the area. One of my top breakfast choices is biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and they make the best I have ever tried.

Today I went far afield and had the Irish Benedict. This is an English muffin, poached egg and homemade corned beef hash in a Hollandaise sauce. They do this very well also.  The potatoes alone made the dish worthwhile and everything else made it better.

The environment is informal, the coffee is nice, the service is good and the food is excellent. Get there early if you don’t want to have to wait for a table on the weekends. As I mentioned, this has been a favorite choice of mine since visiting Boise a couple of years ago. I have often had to wait for a table to become available, but have never regretted doing so. I would recommend Moe Joe’s to anyone who is willing to get there between 7:00 and 8:00 (there will be a few die-hard customers waiting before they open) or if you don’t mind a wait for a table.

You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve eaten at Moe Joe’s several times over the last few years, and have always been impressed. Each time I have gotten something different, and have never yet gotten a dish I was unhappy with. This time, I got a dish called “The Smokehouse”, which was marked as a local favorite. And I must say, I can see why:

Moe Joes “Smokehouse”

It’s your pretty standard breakfast hash, but made with very high quality ingredients, prepared very well. And there were some nice extra touches that made it noteworthy, like the addition of a chipotle sauce to add an extra bit of zing.

The coffee was better than your average diner or even many coffee shops. A nice blend done to a medium roast; well paired with this sort of breakfast.

If you can get here before 8am, you should definitely come here for breakfast. after that, there will be a line, but it is worth the wait.
